Sorrento, Campania, Italy, Friday, October 12, 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n

Blue Colored Chapel<\/p><\/div>\n

After three busy days, we have planned to just relax and hang around Sorrento. Today was supposed to be a rainy day and when we get up, it has not disappointed. We have had three wonderful days exploring the surrounding area, so weather timing is good. A leisurely breakfast, pay our bill so we can leave early tomorrow, and we hang in the room deciding what we want to do today. The rain is not very heavy right now, so we decided to walk up the street and visit the main cathedral of Sorrento.
\nThis is the seat of the local Bishop and is a nice little church. There is a diorama of the nativity, a chapel with the blue colors of Capri’s grotto, and some beautiful inlaid wood work on the doors.
\nWe exit and the rain has mostly stopped. We pick a street we have not walked on and follow it to no particular destination. We come upon an old fortress, and wall with a free museum but it is only open until the end of September so we can not visit it.<\/p>\n

Local Fish Market Selection<\/p><\/div>\n

We stroll along, window shopping and climbing uphill slightly. We reach the end of this street and hang a right where there is a little fish market. We take a look at all the different species they are selling and watch as several locals buy their meals for the afternoon or evening. Continuing on, we hit an area with views across the bay of a shadowy Mount Vesuvius on this cloudy day. We pop in a market debating whether we want to get some food for lunch or a pizza. We opt for the pizza and continue our walk slowly changing direction towards our BNB. The clouds and wet streets really soften up the hard lines and colors of the buildings in the town and I take a few pictures. We stop in the nice park by our place and savor the view across the bay before returning for an early afternoon siesta. I unfortunately, feel like I may be getting a sore throat and while napping is not my strong suit, I try after being prodded by Carol to put down the blog and try to rest. After a little while, she goes out and gets us a Calzone for lunch. We also nibble on some buffalo mozzarella we bought at the store yesterday. The buffalo mozzarella is made from water buffalo milk which they raise in areas south of here. It is good but definitely has a different taste than regular mozzarella. We both agree that we like the original mozzarella better. It has worked for thousands of years, so why mess with a good thing!<\/p>\n

That’s All Carol Left Me<\/p><\/div>\n

Since the rain has stopped, we will try to go down to the Marina later and eat at the same restaurant as last night. We both really enjoyed their antipasto, and this will be our last day by the sea, so we want to enjoy both the fresh seafood and the sea view. This pretty much sums up our not very busy day. Our dinner is great once again with the only change being that we get an order of fresh ravioli instead of the calamari. The sauce is really good and the large raviolis are stuffed full with ricotta. Excellent meal, great views, and wonderful company. I am a happy and lucky guy, once again!
