Grilling Spiedini<\/p><\/div>\n

Today, we left the Vortex of New York and New Jersey. We departed Clemonton, New Jersey, where Carols friend Helen lives and headed toward Montpelier, Vermont. We will be staying a few days with Sid and his brother, Father Ron, who we met in Oberammergau, Germany in 2012. This will be our third time visiting them and we are looking forward to it.<\/p>\n

The trip to Vermont was not bad taking us a total of 8 hours. We hit pockets of traffic until we made it to the New Jersey\/New York border and the New York State Thruway. Once past the outskirts of New York City and Newark, the traffic thinned considerably and we cruised to Albany and beyond. After Albany, we got off of the Interstate and took some backroads near the Saratoga area. We saw a couple of Osprey nests as we drove along the Hudson River. We also came upon an old locks system on the side of the river which skirted some waterfalls. There seems to be some interesting historical sights here so we may have to plan a separate trip next time we come east to visit. We enter Vermont and go through the town of Rutland, where we stop for gas and call Sid to let him know we are about an hour from Montpelier. After Rutland and some typical Vermont backroads, we hit Interstate 89 and arrive in Montpelier at 4:45 exactly 8 hours after we left New Jersey. <\/p>\n

We are looking forward to a couple of days here before we continue and start our journey into Canada. Below are some pictures from New York and New Jersey. <\/p>\n\n\t\t
